# Deleting a Data Schema

This article explains how to delete a data schema or data schema version.

## Prerequisite

Make sure that you've reviewed all associated datasets that use the schema you want to delete. It is important to do this because **if a schema is deleted, all associated datasets will be deleted as well**.

## Deleting a Data Schema or Version

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### Open the Data Schemas page

Go to the page that lists your data schemas.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Find the schema or schema version

If needed, use the search fields at the top right.

* Use **Search Name** to search by schema name.
* Use **Search Description** to search by schema description.

Each schema appears with a row for each version. Find the version you want to delete.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Open the menu for the version

Select the three-dot menu on the right side of the version row, shown below.

![](/files/5888e75ed4ab902e5f9c69511f9c197ef7bfe549)
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

#### Remove the schema version

Select **Remove schema**.

Repeat these steps for each version you want to remove. When you delete the last version, the data schema is fully deleted.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Remove From the Object Page

You can also remove a schema or schema version directly from the **Data Schemas** page by selecting **Remove schema**.
